Music
Music plays a central role in all aspects of RGS life. The Music Department is housed in the Old Building where the historic surroundings of the building provide an appropriate environment for performance. The School is fortunate in that it attracts young musicians of a high calibre and, as a consequence, the standard of musical performance is extremely high.

The Department uses a number of areas within the Tudor building for tuition, rehearsals and performances including the two main function rooms, Big School and School Room. A dedicated computer suite enables the use of technology for composition and performance and supports the Music Technology A Level option. Newly built practice rooms provide opportunities for the many instrumental and ensemble lessons. In addition, the Music Department utilises the Auditorium within the New Building for large scale ensembles as well as venues outside of the School, including Guildford Cathedral and Holy Trinity church.
Plans are currently being drawn up for a brand new Music School on land adjacent to the Art School.
