Junior (Years 1 - 3)
Key Stage 3
The aims of the curriculum are achieved through objectives which are set and delievered by the various subject departments which each pupil will encounter throughout his time at the RGS.
The curriculum of each year group can be summarised as follows:
First Year
Classes are taught in mixed ability groups and all follow the same curriculum:
- 6 periods per week of Science
- 4 periods per week of English, Mathematics, Latin, and French or Spanish
- 3 periods per week of Geography, History and Games
- 2 periods per week of Technology, Art & Design and Religious Studies
- 1.5 period of Music
- 1 period per week of Physical Education
- 0.5 period of Information & Communications Technology
Second Year
Classes are taught in mixed ability groups and all follow the same curriculum
- 6 periods per week of Science
- 4 periods per week of English, Mathematics, Latin, and French or Spanish
- 3 periods per week of Geography, History and Games
- 2 periods per week of Technology, Art & Design and Religious Studies
- 1 period per week Music
- 1 period per week of Physical Education
- 1 period of Information & Communications Technology
Third Year
Classes are taught in mixed ability groups and all follow the same curriculum:
- 4 periods per week of English and Mathematics
- 3 periods per week of German, Greek or Spanish and Games
- 2.5 periods per week of French (in sets) and Latin
- 2 periods per week of Geography, History, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Technology, Art & Design and Religious Studies
- 1 period per week of Music, Drama, Physical Education, Tutor Period and CCF/Scouts/D of E
