General Studies

General Studies is a programme of non-examined academic and skills-based enrichment for Sixth Formers. It consists of courses and lectures which take place during the final two lessons on Tuesday afternoons throughout the academic year. The fundamental rationale of General Studies is learning for its own sake, but there is also value in broadening the experience of Sixth Form students beyond the examined curriculum in a co-educational context.

General Studies courses are run with two local girls’ schools, Tormead School and Guildford High School. Students take part in three six-week courses during the first two terms of the year. During the Trinity Term there is a programme of lectures and other presentations.
