Work Experience Placements
We are in the process of allocating Fifth Form pupils to work experience placements and we have had an unprecedented level of interest in law and investment banking. As a result, we are short of a number of placements for pupils. If there are any parents who work in these sectors (or who have contacts who may be able to help) and who might be able to offer a week of work experience at the end of June or the beginning of July, Miss Bell (Deputy Head of Careers) would be very happy to hear from you and to provide you with further information.

U15s National Squash Runners Up
The RGS have been competing in the U15 National Schools Championship. We beat Lancing College narrowly to proceed to the semi finals. We made our way to Manchester, for the semi finals and finals at the England Squash Centre in Sport City, Manchester.

We beat RGS Newcastle in the semi final 3-2 and had to play Wycliffe in the final, the champions for five in the last six years.

We are thrilled at being one of the two schools in the country to be finalists in the national U15 school squash competition, and our very proud of all of the team - all of them - including the reserves. They showed great sportsmanship and good humour in both defeat and victory.

Inspection Report
The Independent Schools Inspectorate report on the Royal Grammar School, based on the inspectors’ visit to the school in November 2007, is now available. Headmaster Dr Jon Cox is delighted with the report:

‘This is an excellent report which stands as a real credit to the boys and staff of the School. The inspectors were hugely impressed with all facets of life at the RGS and formed an overwhelmingly positive impression of the pupils, whom they found to be articulate, considerate and mature.’
